One Small Step for Mankind…

Well, maybe not one small step for mankind, but definitely a step in the right direction for us. We had our zoning board hearing last night and our request for an exemption on the frontage and for exempt subdivision status was GRANTED! Basically what that means is we can bypass the long, very lengthy process of dividing the land so we can build our house. We have been told the process that we can now do could only take 10-14 days! We are not in a huge hurry, but the other process takes months of hearings and notifications (not to mention money).  We are just so excited that building our house is becoming more of a reality. We are so thankful for Daniel’s dad who has done so much work in making this possible (not to mention dividing their land!).  Now we are finalizing things with our builders and lining up the well and septic bids. We have already had the Perk Test samples taken so that was step 1!  We moved to Indiana just about a year ago (Oct. 31) and we are just so excited to start working on permanent housing arrangements! We will be walking through the house we want to build one more time, with Daniel’s parents, on Thursday so we can make our final decision.

Avery will be 9 months this week. It is so hard to believe that that it has already been that long since she arrived. She is now saying “DaDa” (kind of) and she gives high fives and kisses. She is so close to standing on her own and walking. She walks behind her toys and moves between furniture. She has such a great personality and I love to watch her and Savannah interact. They really love eachother! She is pretty much eating table food 100% of the time (other than the occasional jar of baby food for supplement).

Savannah has become quite the character. She loves anything princess and plays “princess” daily. She usually picks one Disney character to be that day and walks around calling herself by that name- Ariel, Booty Beast, Seeping Booty, Pokehantas, or Tangled. She also thinks her name is “Savannah Eugene Clopeland”- she gets the Eugene from Tangled and since her middle name is Jean and sounds similar it must be!

We went to the zoo again on Monday- we love the Zoo and Savannah loves the dolphin show. We will be going to Zoo Boo on Sunday and Savannah can’t wait to wear her costume that she borrowed from Adria. She will be a lady bug and Avery will be a bee. I will try to remember to get pictures because the costumes are just too cute. If we have time we will go to Trunk or Treat at the Shelbyville Armory on Monday night. It will give us one more reason to let the girls wear their costumes one more time!

Gus is still gone. We have started putting up flyers for him around the area and he might have been sighted just the other day. We are really hoping to get him home before it starts to get too cold. We really miss him.

I think that is it for now. I will try to add some pictures of recent happenings here soon!

Happy Birthday all around!

So this has definitely been the week of the birthday! First let me say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my wonderful husband. He is such an amazing Dad and we are so blessed to have him in our lives. Daniel’s mom and Aunt Anita also celebrated their birthdays this week, along with Dan’s cousin Christen. Happy Birthday all around.

I forgot to update last week so I am sure I will miss some of the stuff that has happened.

On Thursday I, very uncharacteristically, forgot that Savannah had her Echo cardiogram. Thank goodness for my Mother-in-law calling to remind me about it. We were only 30 minutes late, so they went ahead and did the test. Savannah did amazing during the test and everything cae back normal. We figured it would be (since I still have a slight murmur and Avery has one that is normal), but we wanted to be sure.

Today we are headed to Kelsay Farms to work at Elaine’s booth for her ceramics and Daniel is face painting (this weekend and in two weekends). Savannah really enjoys being outdoors, but hopefully we won’t freeze. It is pretty cold out there today. I am sure Savannah will get to pet the baby cows, go through the corn maze, and ride the hay ride and cow cars today! She is pretty excited.

Last Friday we went to a hot dog roast at Steve and Elaine’s. It was good to see family and Savannah rode her very first hay ride. We pretty much had to force her on it, but she did calm down before it started and even enjoyed it!

Last night we went to a surprise birthday party for Aunt Anita. Someone brought her, and Mom, a special gift for their birthday. When they opened the box they found a dead opossum. I don’t think anyone was really surprised (dead animals are a somewhat common gift). What did I get myself into?

We took Savannah to her very first movie theater movie the other day. We went and saw Cars 2 and she made it through most of the movie without being noisy. We made the mistake of going during both girls nap time so Avery ended up sleeping through most of it (after being a little noisy) and Savannah was grumpy towards the end. Thankfully, it was a Monday matinee so there were not too many people there to disturb.

We had a special custom necklace made for Daniel’s mom for her birthday. It was a basket cut into a quarter. I found the lady on Etsy (love it!) and designed it for her. It looks fantastic. I am always so impressed by how God has blessed people with such creativity.

The soybeans are out of the field that we are wanting to build in so we are one step closer to breaking ground on our new house. We have a zoning meeting on the 24th of this month. Pray that everything will work out and we will be granted the variance and division that we need to get started. We are so excited about starting a new chapter in our lives. It is hard to believe that we moved to Indianapolis almost a year ago (Oct. 31). Our lives have changed so much since then and God has blessed us this last year.

Avery is almost 9 months old and getting pretty close to walking. She still does not have any teeth yet, but she is an eating machine. She just gums her food to death!

Still no signs of Gus yet. We pray that he will come back to us, but if he doesn’t that he is being taken care of.

I think that is it for now!

Sick and Tired again!

Savannah was so sick last week from Thursday until this past Monday. We never did find out what it was, although she acted like she had a migraine. We ended up taking her to the doctor who heard a murmur and so Savannah will be getting an Echo next Thursday. Avery had one and it was not a big deal, and I had/have one and so I doubt it will be anything of note.

Gus is still gone. I look on Craig’s List and Pet Harbor/Pet Finder at least 3 times a day. I refuse to give up and am constantly getting encouraged by people whose dogs have come home after weeks or months. I really miss him.

Sarah is coming home from college this weekend. It is all Savannah can talk about. She really misses her Aunt RahRah.

We took the girls to Kelsay Farms on Saturday, but Savannah was not feeling very good so she did not play very much. We tried to get her to ride the hay ride and cows, but she was not feeling it. We will be going back either next weekend or in a few weekends, so hopefully by then she will more into it! She did love the baby calves though. There was a few that liked to suck on fingers. It was quite the experience!

On Sunday we went to the annual fall party at a family from church’s. Savannah played for a little while, but then she started to not feel well and ended up sleeping on my lap while all the other little kids played. She was so upset that we missed church Sunday morning, and all she wanted to do was see her friends, but she was just not feeling well. We ended up going home pretty early.

The weather has just been crazy. Warm, then cold, then warm again- I do not understand. All the fields around our house are starting to be harvested. I love the smell of dirt, and it is one more sign that fall is here! I love fall!

We have been celebrating birthdays left and right. Mamaw, Daniel, and Aunt ‘Nita’s birthdays are all around the corner. This year is a big one for Nancy and Anita! I have been trying to come up with something to do for Daniel’s birthday. I am sure we could find a sitter, but I am not very creative, so I am having a hard time coming up with something we can do together.

I think that is it for this week! We have a busy, busy week coming up with the Dougherty Weiner Rost, Daniel painting faces at Kelsay’s and dr. appointments. We will survive!
