So… totally not looking forward to the 2 inches of snow they are calling for tomorrow night. We had such a nice week playing outside for several hours a day in the 70 degree weather. What happened? We are headed on “Spring Break” on Sunday and it is not looking like fishing weather. I think the fish are going to be too frozen to bite 😦 We are only going out of town for a few days, but I wish it was calling for nicer weather. I need the warmer weather to come- I am tired of the cold and the warmer weather and sunshine has helped with having a lot of “better” days the last few weeks.
We have some very special people coming to visit next week- Mrs. Sampson (Mimi), Mrs. Varvel, and Mrs. Gifford. I can’t wait to spend some time with them! We really miss all our friends out in Ohio, so it will be nice to get a visit from them!
I worked out for the first time yesterday on the treadmill for the first time since my c-section, actually for the first time since probably the summer. I really lost my motivation after the summer was done and I was 4 months pregnant. My shins are screaming at me today, but my stomach didn’t feel like it was going to split in half so that is definitely a good thing. I think sometimes I forget (a lot of times) that I had major surgery just 8 weeks ago and push myself to do too much.
For those who have been praying for Avery’s bowel problems- we had a little breakthrough earlier this week but have stalled again. We could use prayers for some regulation for her. She is definitely uncomfortable and more fussy than normal. She turned 8 weeks old yesterday. I can’t believe it has been 8 weeks since she unexpectedly made her entrance into this world. She definitely gave us a little scare that day, but she has been such a blessing in our lives- all the drama, fear, and excitement day was totally worth it.
Not much has been is going on, but I wanted to update before we go away for the weekend and I won’t have a chance to get on until later next week.
Beautiful. It perfectly describes the weather yesterday. Yesterday was our “Saturday” and we were very busy. First, we took the girls to get their Easter pictures together. Avery was not too excited about the pictures, but we managed to get several of her that worked. Savannah on the other hand is a “cheese” bug and performed very well yesterday. Overall the pictures turned out so cute! I can’t wait until they are ready to be picked up later next week. We ate lunch at Yats and then headed over to the pet resort to visit Aunt Erica for a little bit. Savannah got to see Daphne and Echo and all the chickens. She really liked “Pig” the duck. We played outside for a little bit when we got home until a very quick and very loud thunderstorm rolled through. It was vicious- it knocked stuff off a shelf inside. Daniel, Avery, and I sat on the porch and watched the storm while rocking away. We took Savannah to the park for a while. Savannah is such a daredevil. She is not afraid of anything at the park- even the tallest slide. We grabbed dinner and then headed home. I can’t believe how nice the weather was all day yesterday. I believe we saw the thermometer say 77! It was so nice spending the majority of the day outside!
So we started our adventure in cloth diapers this last week and surprisingly it is going pretty well. After a leak a piece the first 2 days we have been going strong in getting a schedule down. It is much easier than I thought it was going to be and much easier to clean up than I thought. A huge plus- the cost. We have not bought a box of diapers in almost 3 weeks and still have at least half a box left in each size. And, the girls look super cute in the diapers. We took some pictures of them tonight and I will try to get them posted here in the next few days.
Yesterday was the first Saturday that Daniel had to work, which really messed up my weekly routine. I forgot it was Saturday and the girls missed their baths. Today was our Sunday and tomorrow will be our Saturday. I think it will take some getting used to for sure. We are taking the girls for their Easter pictures tomorrow. Hopefully, Avery cooperates and we get some nice pictures of the girls together.
Daniel and Savannah have a very set bedtime routine that started a little before Avery was born and has continued ever since. We anticipated me not being able to go up stairs often for several weeks and sadly, cut myself out of the bedtime routine. They read a excerpt from a book every night that we received from our pastor and his wife as a gift for Avery. She walks into her room and asks for “bird”, which is what she calls the book because there is a bird on its spine. The last few nights they have been reading about the death and resurrection of Christ. Now, when you ask Savannah what happened to Jesus she replies “boo-boo” and then she says “died” and then “alive” . It is too cute. Today they read about the ascension of Christ and she now says “Heabus” for where he went! It is such a joy to watch her read and comprehend Bible stories. She has almost finished reading through the book (Old and New Testament highlights) and we have only had it for less than 2 months. All of the Old Testament stories explained how that story was a foreshadowing to the coming of Christ.
We have been spending a lot of time outside with the nice weather. I really don’t want the cool down they are calling for later in the week. Savannah loves to swing and play outside any time she can. She spent all day yesterday with her “Onion Do-Do” (translation Aunt Jo-Jo) going to the library and visiting her Great Grannie. She had such a fun time at the library reading and playing with the hand puppets. She loved Aunt Joan’s cat Higgins, but I don’t think the feeling was mutual.
We have a busy week coming up. I am working for the first time since early January on Friday and then we are headed to Owen County on Sunday for some relaxation and FISHING!!!! So excited!
Here are some recent pictures from the last 2 months or so!
We just got back from a week and a half trip to Ohio and West Virginia. We capitalized on a business trip Dan was taking and went and visited Nana and Papa for the week. We went and stayed in Tyson’s Corner with Dan on Wednesday and Thursday nights and I got to visit with an old college roommate. Savannah was especially excited because she got to go swimming. She is such a water bug. We also got to visit with great friends in Ohio while we got some “business” taken care of. We are so excited for so many of our friends who will become parents here in the next few weeks! Avery has been having some intestinal problems that we are hoping will resolve itself soon. Poor baby! We could really use some prayers for our house to sell soon and for guidance and direction on what we will do once the house in Xenia sells.
I am horrible at keeping people current on the events going on in our family life. Hopefully, I will be able to keep everyone updated on our life and post pictures of the girls and how they are growing.
We love our life! We moved to Greenwood, Indiana in November of 2010 to be closer to Daniel’s family, but we also miss our life, friends, and family in Xenia and everywhere else! God blessed our time in Xenia with people who surrounded us with love.
Daniel and I consider ourselves so blessed. Savannah Jean is now almost 22 months and her 2nd birthday is right around the corner. Hard to believe it has been that long since our family went from 2 to 3. January 27th we welcomed Avery Marie to our family. we had quite the adventure that day, but God protected Avery and I and she entered the world healthy and happy! We now have quite the birth story to share with her when she gets older. Savannah has become quite the chatter box (though a lot of the time we have no idea what she is talking about) and amazes us with her intelligence everyday. She is one smart cookie! Avery is 7 weeks old today and is starting to pick up her head and smile intentionally. We have just started an adventure into cloth diapering and so far it is going well- hopefully I can keep up with it and not get frustrated with it.
Daniel just started a new job last week after transferring to a different division of his company. He received lay off notice December 21, 2010, but thankfully was offered a job with a different division the last week of January. Thankfully, we did not have to think about all the “what ifs” that come with a layoff and especially with having two little girls to support.
We still own a house in Xenia and it is currently on the market. We have had some traffic, but it was slow during the winter. Hopefully we will have more and more showings soon and someone will want our house. We have another showing on the house tomorrow. We can’t start looking for a house here in Greenwood until our house sells in Ohio. Hopefully the house will sell soon so we can figure out where we want to live here in Indiana and get a space to call our own.
I think that updates the new happenings in our lives the last few months. I will try to update as much as I can with 2 little ones pulling me in opposite directions and put up a few new pictures each month.
